Fraternity Recruitment at Grand Valley is a year long time at Grand Valley, though it has been traditionally during the first few weeks of each semester. Each fraternity will have events to allow you to meet and get to know each member of the fraternity. These events hold no obligation for you to join.
Although many fraternities get majority of their new members at this time, the fraternities on campus are always looking to meet new people and to decide if you would be an asset to their group. If the members of a fraternity and you get a long, the members may give you a bid. A bid is an invitation to join a fraternity, you can accept it to join. If you find that fraternity life is just not for you, remember there is no obligation to join even if you have attended some recruitment events.
Below is a video of all the new members of Fall 2009 publically accepting their bids. It is a known Greek tradition at Grand Valley that happens around third or forth week into a semester. After a brief introduction, each of the new members go on stage and publically announces which fraternity they will join.
